Who am I? Who are YOU?
There are a ton of ways to express who is writing, right now, in this moment. Sitting here on my couch watching YouTube videos… its requiring a bit of thought! (What do you mean? You are you, how hard is it?!)
Well, lets start with the basics.
Hi. Nice to meet you. My name is Clarissa.
I am 22 years old, living in the beautiful state of Idaho-
Ah, yes…go ahead with the potato jokes-I will wait… You done?
I grew up here, and recently graduated college with a Bachelors in Business Administration in October of 2019. Grew up really quick, bought a house (a single wide manufactured home… we will discuss that later), am in a loving relationship and have a decent job!
So when does it get interesting?!
Well, here is the deal- I have experienced a lot, done a lot, and thought about a lot in the 22 years I have been alive. Let’s be honest with ourselves, I think we all have underlying fears, hopes, dream, and expressions that maybe we are a bit afraid or unsure about sharing. Guess what? I’ll do it for you!
So where should we start? Should we start with my trailer? My job? My boyfriend? … Lets just start from the beginning of adulthood.
College.
After graduating high school, I was sure of only one thing- I wanted to go to school. Where would I go? I did not want to go to the same places as all the people I grew up with. I ended up in a fast track college that some may consider a “sketchy” place to get a degree.
At the beginning of my education, I was a Swing manager trainee at McDonald’s. I had worked there since I was fifteen. To be honest, I HATED it. I had a crap job, a crap boyfriend, and was over all disappointed in who I was at that time. Starting college, I needed to decide where I would focus my degree. I knew I wanted to study Business, but what part? Accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship?
I thought I chose entrepreneurship… turns out I was studying marketing my whole time there. I only realized that I was studying marketing when I reached the beginning of my third and final year in college.
Yes- you heard that right. Three years. I spent the three years after high school doing collegiate level work without a SINGLE extended break (besides Thanksgiving and Christmas). They way that they did this, was breaking down courses into multiple classes that changed monthly. This resulted in completion of my education in three years, instead of four!
During college, a lot of things happened. I got multiple new jobs (worked in management, more food, retail, insurance…), got rid of my terrible ex, met my current boyfriend, bought a house, got a new job… on and on and on…
AFTER college- I was convinced that I was going to be joining the U.S. Navy. I wanted to join the military my whole life, but due to certain circumstances (mental illness), I was not approved by the recruiting officer.
At the end of the day, I’m pretty happy where I ended up! I just got promoted, (one heck of a twenty five cent raise… yaaawn), live in a house that I own, and have a wonderful partner to live through it with.
That brings me to this, who are YOU? Think about it, you are ever changing, growing with your time and expressing yourself in new different ways every day. What are your passions? Where do you want to go, and where have you been?
